Junior Football 2015

Junior football at Metro FC comprises of 5th-8th Grades and our teams play within the club but combine with Gladstone and St Francis Schools. The junior section of the club continues to grow from year to year as the popularity of football in New Zealand increases. Metro FC also has a close working relationship with neighbours Gladstone Primary, ensuring teams from the school can play Saturday football under the Metro Gladstone banner. Ninth Grade now play in the AFF Junior Competition competing against teams across the Auckland region.

Metro FC was one of the first clubs to take on board the Whole of Football Plan (WoFP). This is a NZ Football award-winning initiative whereby players have a complete football experience in one hour. Players rotate through three 8 minute stations where they learn football skills. They then have two 12 minute games. The 6th Grade play Friday Night at 5.30 pm at Metro, the 7th & 8th Grade play 8 am Saturdays at Metro FC.

There is an added need for coaches and managers with so many teams. We are lucky at Metro FC to have such a dedicated number of volunteers who manage and coach teams during the season. Metro FC is dedicated to providing kids with quality coaching and, as such, in 2015 has offered the NZ Football WoFP Introduction Course to all junior coaches to get them started on the coaching ladder, meaning most junior coaches have a good base for coaching.

The sub menus have a range of information about our junior teams!

Good luck to all Junior Teams for the 2015 Season!
