Whole of Football Plan

Hi All,

The Whole of Football Plan (WoFP) is now well underway, and from all accounts the kinks have all been ironed out and things are running much more smoothly for all concerned which is great to hear.

The WoFP is designed as a long term strategy to improve the overall delivery of football to the kids (and coaches) in New Zealand. While it seems a radical change to us down here in Oceania the main concepts of the WoFP (such as very small field sizes, and reduced player numbers) have been in place in Europe for many years – especially technically advanced countries such as Spain (look at the success they have had in the last 6 years) and Holland (again a country that gave the world ‘total football’).

The WoFP is exactly what it states – ‘the Whole of Football’. The vastly reduced field sizes, the reduced player numbers per team etc will be rolled out to EVERY club in NZ next year at EVERY age group. There will be no ‘going back’ to the old system next year, and from 2012 all 6-12 year olds will receive the WoFP method in the same format no matter where in NZ they are from Invercargill to Kaitaia.

As game leaders and managers, its vital to embrace the WoFP, as you are the ones who will be key to delivering its message to the kids now and in the future. I hope you are finding the WoFP is making your job easier, the kids are improving with each passing week, and most importantly they are having fun.

We are very greatful for all your time, effort and dedication to running your teams, the club could not survive without volunteers such as yourselves. We are very lucky to have such a great group of volunteers here at Metro.

Thanks

Ants Owens
