Changes Coming in 2010 to the NRFL

Season 2010

Since the close of the season last year, significant changes are occuring to the structures of the Senior Leagues competitions. Our Federation One counterparts have seen fit to rejoin the Federation Two and Three teams to reconstitute the Northern Leagues. The senior side will play in the 18 team grading group, Group 1. This group is made up of:

  • 10 Fed 2/Fed 3 Premier League teams from 2009.
  • Two promoted Div 1 teams from 2009
  • Top Six Fed 1 Premier League Teams

The 16 team grading group, Group 2, is made up of:

  • 11 Remaining Div 1 Teams from 2009
  • Next four Fed 1 Premier League Teams
  • 1 new Few 3 team (tba)

Group 1 will play 17 matches and Group 2 will play 15 matches. This will mean each team in a group will play every other team in that group once. After the first groups of matches, this happens:

Premier Division will consist of:

  • Teams 1-8 from Group 1
  • 8 team Premier Division will play 7 matches to complete their season.
  • Top of the table after 7 matches is the 2010 Premier Division Champion

Division 1A will consist of:

  • Teams 9, 12,13,16,17 from Group 1
  • Teams 2,3,5 from Group 2
  • 10 team Div 1A will play 9 matches to complete their season
  • Top of the Table plays off against top of Div 1B for Div 1 Championship
  • Auto promotion to Premier League 2011 for Top team in Div1A

Division 1B will consist of:

  • Teams 10,11,14,15,18 from Group 1
  • Teams 1,4,6 from Group 2
  • 10 team Div 1B will play 9 matches to complete their season
  • Top of the Table plays off against top of Div 1A for Div 1 Championship
  • Auto promotion to Premier League 2011 for Top team in Div1B

 Second Division will consist of:

  • Teams 7-16 from Group 2
  • 10 team Div 2 will play 9 matches to complete their season
  • Top of the table after 9 matches is the 2010 Division 2 Champion

2010 Div 1/Div 2 Playoffs (Promotion/Relegation)

  • Teams 7-8 from 2010 Div 1A
  • Teams 7-8 from 2010 Div 1B
  • Team 1 from Div 2
  • 5 way playoff over 3 weeks

 

 Season 2011

Premier Division

  • Teams 1 - 8 from 2010 Premier Division
  • Team 1 From 2010 Div 1A
  • Team 1 from 2010 Div 1B

 First Division

  • Teams 2-5 from 2010 Div 1A
  • Teams 2-5 from 2010 Div 1B
  • Teams 1-2 from 2010 Div1/Div2 Playoffs

Second Division

  • Teams 3-5 from 2010 Div 1/Div 2 Playoffs
  • Teams 2-9 from 2010 Div 2
