Metro FC win local derby!

METRO FC 2-1 CENTRAL UNITED

Metro FC vs Central United at Phyllis Street on Friday night was a showcase of two teams trying to prove their championship credentials. A strong home support was present to support the boys in red and black this perfect Friday evening under lights at Albie Turner Field. A strong first half for Metro FC resulted in the team controlling the balance of play and ensuring they returned to the sheds at half time with a 1-0 lead thanks to a Kenji Nakamura strike. Confidence grew with the team along with the quality of the passing, though Central United fought for every ball. Though the team was tiring and feeling the effects of a hard game, strong pressure from the Metro FC strike force resulted in a well fought 2-0 lead with a well taken finish by new player, Kindness Agwu. A late strike back by Milosh Nikolic for Central United led to a tense finish for players, coaches and supporters alike. The final whistle signalled the intent of this Metro FC team and their determination to be fighting for honours come September. A 2-1 victory over such near local rivals, and a team equal at the top of the table really was a fantastic result.
