Explanation of Horse Racing Night

Basically we have a plastic mat that consists of squares that run the length of the downstairs area. There are 2 dice(die) that represent 1 for the number of the horse and 1 for the number of squares the horse must move and they must complete the course on the correct number of the squares.

We have sponsors of the 6 races, this is actually a donation but it gets the race named after them. We then sell each horse, 36 in total over 6 races @ $10.00 each. The winning horse gets back the owner $30.00, the rest goes to the club. I still have 28 left if interested. 

We then auction the horses on the night and again the winning horse returns a percentage to the owner of the auction depending on the amount raised, again the balance goes to the club.

We then have a tote where everyone can put a minimum $1.00 bet on the horse of their choice and there is a return to each person who has bet on the winning horse. 

In the past, (and I mean the past!), we used to have real fun nights but it needs participation and we usually get any children present to be the horses (we even have silks for them) or maybe parents or top team players, depends on the crowd.

Please try and get as many to come as possible, we should finish at 9.30 – 10.00pm.
