Sunday 1st June Vs |

This game was more than a football match for several reasons. Firstly it was a local Derby and also the home team contained players previously at Metro last season so it had all the ingredients for a great match and so it was!
Central dominated proceedings in the first twenty minutes but could not score the vital first goal and as the half wore on we came more dominate and went close to scoring on three occasions.Dylan Beckham was outstanding on the right wing well supported by Arik Kubicki and our new signing Barry Donachie.
The calibre of football served up by both teams was excellent and deserved a bigger audience. With three minutes remaining in the half Central stole the lead when one of their forwards turned Danny Bowen and saw his shot deflected past our 'keeper.
Metro hit back within 90 seconds after half-time when Martin Veele scored with 20 yard drive which left Berry in the Central goal just a spectator. Metro then got on top and came close to increasing their score but for the crossbar and some dour defending by the home defence.
The turning point in the match came in the 70th minute when we lost our central defender Damien Fonoti with a broken collar bone. This seem to be the catalyst for Metro to raise their game and two minutes later our substitute Michael Cook scored ending a superb five man passing movement which opened up the Central defence.
Metro went in search of a third and Arik Kubicki almost scored but his drive flew over the top! However Dylan Beckham made the points safe in the next attack when he danced round three defenders and rifled a stunning left foot drive into the top right hand corner from the corner of the area.
An excellent match to watch and a well deserved victory for Metro. The game was well refereed and played in excellent spirit.Central will play poorer and win, but, today they came against a team right on their game!
