Our under -19 team completed the league double over our near neighbours despite the fact that Central brought a team including Campbell Banks (ex Kingz), Miro Major, Shane Pascoe, and Paul Vodanovich from their National league squad and players from their Bluebird Premier team.
The first half was a cracker with Metro dominating early exchanges but Central weathered the storm and nearly scored when Miro Major's free kick hit the outside of the post. Five minutes later another free kick from the same player was superbly saved by Robert Woolmer with a full length dive. Woolmer also produce another top quality save to deny Banks scoring with a clever lob which the home 'keeper palmed away falling backwards.
Metro took the lead when Richard Beeston's cross was dropped by Berry in the Central goal and Michael Cook was on hand to blast the ball home from six yards.
Metro lost Evaan Miocevich ten minutes from the break when he was elbowed in the eye by a Central defender deliberately, which was undetected by the referee!
The second half was as absorbing as the first half with play swinging from end to end. The calibre of football was high and both teams were giving the spectators value for money.
Metro increase its lead fifteen minutes from time when Arik Kubicki drove home a shot from 18 yards in to bottom left hand corner of Berry's goal. Metro then produced two other chances to score but were thwarted by good saves. Then Cook blasted over from eight yards when a header may have produced the telling blow.
The final whistle blew to end a superb game from both teams, but, on the day Metro won because it was a team effort and faith in each other plus the stronger to desire to win! So Metro were the winners by 2-0.
So Metro extended its unbeaten run to twelve matches-a great feat by anybody's standards.
Tomorrow Metro travel to Lynn-Avon in search of the points to secure their lead at the top of the table.
Goal scorers: Cook (25 min) and Kubicki (75 min)
