We faced a very resolute and physical Waitakere side which boasted four players from their first team squad which defeated our senior side two nights before at Phyllis Street.
Once again we dominated proceedings without scoring the vital first goal and almost conceded one ourselves when they hit a post after 22 minutes. We finally broke through five minutes before the interval when Evaan Miocevich headed home Dylan Beckham's left wing corner.
Early in the second half Adrian Peihopa almost increased our lead and we had several more chances before the visitors equalised twenty minutes from the end.
We continued to press forward in search of the winner and it almost cost us the game as the visitors went close on a couple of occasions only to be thwarted by two very good saves by Robert Woolmer in one -on-one situations.
The final whistle blew much to relief of the visitors who hung on grimly in the final few minutes. Once again we punched above our weight in this match giving away weight, age and strength.
