Youth Football 2017

Youth football covers Grades 13 to 17. Our teams play in the AFF Junior Competition against other Auckland teams, home or away, on Saturdays.

Why have a separate Youth Football focus?

This is when football begins to get a 'competitive' edge. The kids begin to increase their knowledge of the game and their appreciation of important aspects of football such as spacial awareness, the importance of team work, and their own skills as budding footballers.

How does Youth Football work at Metro FC?

Metro FC youth Football covers Grades 13 to 17.

We offer teams of different skill ranges and levels of competition. Where necessary we trial teams before the season to make sure players end up in an appropriate level for their skills. .

What about team and pitch sizes?

  • Grades 13 and up play 11 v 11 on a full size field with increases of game length depending on the age.

Squads are usually made up of 14 players to allow for 3 substitutes.
Metro FC advocates equal rotation of players to allow even playing time during both a game and the season.

We offer training to all our Youth coaches

There is an added need for coaches and managers with so many teams. We are lucky at Metro FC to have such a dedicated number of volunteers who manage and coach teams during the season.

Metro FC is dedicated to providing kids with quality coaching. In 2017 the NZF Junior Level 1 Coaching Course is available to all youth coaches to get them started on the coaching ladder, meaning most coaches have a good base for coaching.

The sub menus have a range of information about our Youth teams!

Good luck to all Youth Teams for the 2017 Season!
